He's like my brother, and I but I fell in love with him

Last night, I had one of those life changing painful realization. My life is not going to be the same ever again. I'm in love with my best friend.
It sounds simple and I know it happened to a lot of people, I even know it sometimes turns out alright, they like them back and a lovely romance evolves. This will never be my case.
We met over 6 years ago, when we were 14 yyears old and we thought we knew everything about life and being cool. We had just started secondary school and he had a lot of friends, I barely knew anyone. So we stuck together. We love the same music and he even dated a model, years older than him, because I helped him (a life time high for him). The relationship we had was fun, brother sisterly, and built on trust.
I stayed the same throughout the years. I had a crush on one of his best friends, confessed, got rejected and he chased the same girl for over 3 years just to have a shitty relationship when she finally said yes. We stayed best friends even when she hated me because was jealous, and I hated her because she hurt my friend. We stayed best friends when we couldn't go out in the same group because his friend that rejected me was there and it felt horrible.
We had a brief fallout in our freshman year in college, we went to the same school. And we changed, he had new friends and so had I. We both became pretentious douche bags and we fought over and over about stupid things. He called me a bitch and I called him an asshole, but we knew deep that that's exactly what we were. So we let it go and started hanging out again.

He isn't the needy type, and i'm not either. We could spend a month without seeing each other and with one unanswered "hello" text and no one would be mad. Because when we finally saw each other it would be like a crappy chick flick's pajama party. I'd like to tell him my secrets and he'd tell me his, we'd laugh and eat junk food and be happy. I can honestly say that it felt a lot like home.
Until last week I started to get pissy when my girlfriend told me they thought he was hot. And I got extra pissed when he told me he had a new fling. It made angry and jealous in a way I had never felt, not even my boyfriends.

Poll shift: Buhari planning to sack INEC chair, appoint Amina Zakari, CUPP alleges

Poll shift: Buhari planning to sack INEC chair, appoint Amina Zakari, CUPP alleges

By Joseph Erunke
ABUJA- THE Coalition of United Political Parties, CUPP,has alleged that President Muhammadu Buhari was planning a change of leadership in the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, following the shift in the conduct of 2019 general elections.

Amina Zakari and Buhar

CUPP alleged that the president’s plan was against the backdrop of his unfavorable disposition to the postponement which stopped the staggered elections as allegedly
planned by the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.
In a statement by its spokesman,Ikenga Ugochinyere,CUPP said it was raising” the alarm over move by Buhari to suspend INEC chairman and appoint Amina Zakari as Acting Chairman under the guise of INEC inability to Conduct Election today (Saturday).
The statement read thus:”The Coalition of United Political Parties is alerting the world of plan and decision by President Muhammadu Buhari to announce the suspension of the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Mahmood Yakubu, from office.
“The President has also pencilled down Amina Zakari for appointment as the Acting Chairman citing her experience as the oldest and most experienced National Commissioner of the Commission.
“The President is planning to use the excuse of inability to hold election today as a reason for the imminent suspension. Feigning ignorance of the real reasons behind the shift, the President in his earlier statement today did not have just a word for the shameful and despicable actions of security forces and the central Bank staff who in obedience to Presidency directives deliberately sabotaged the distribution of sensitive materials in selected states.
“We are aware that his hurried return to Abuja today from his home state, Katsina is to sack the INEC boss. But this should be resisted by all well meaning Nigerians and the international community.
“The sin of the INEC Chairman is that he refused to conduct staggered elections that will allow the President and his men to manipulate the process. The Presidency had mounted pressure on the Commission to conduct election today in states where there were no issues and postpone only the states with materials distribution issues. The INEC Chairman insisted on conducting the election at the same time hence warranting the postponement of the entire election.
“We hereby warn President Buhari that the position of the INEC Chairman is independent, hence, he cannot be removed from office via suspension. The 1999 Constitution in Section 157(1) states that the Chairman and members of the Commission may only be removed by the President acting on an address supported by two-thirds majority of the Senate that the person be removed for inability to discharge the functions of the office (whether arising from infirmity of Mind or body or any other cause) or for misconduct
“We are aware that the government itself sabotaged INEC distribution of materials and he is turning around to suspend the Chairman of INEC illegally.
“We are warning that any attempt to sack or suspend the INEC Chairman will only lead to electoral and constitutional crisis. The nation is still grappling with the illegality and unconstitutionality of the removal of the Chief Justice of Nigeria and the President wants to go down this ignoble path again.
“If the President has ears, let him hear.”

2019 election: Shehu Sani lists five effects of polls’ postponement

2019 election: Shehu Sani lists five effects of polls’ postponement

Shehu Sani, the Senator representing Kaduna Central has highlighted five things raised in minds of Nigerians following the postponement of presidential and national assembly elections by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, had on Saturday morning announced the shift of the polls by a week.
Mahmood attributed the postponement of all the scheduled elections to logistic and operational problems.
The decision met by INEC to postpone the polls has since been met with reactions across the country.
Sani, on his part said postponement of election by INEC raised “doubt, dust, suspicion, temper and cost” in Nigeria.

The Kaduna lawmaker further urged Nigerians not to be discouraged but be in high spirit to vote
“However, it should not lower our spirit or our resolve to exercise our democratic responsibility.
“Unfolding events demands that we should be marathoners not sprinters.”

I Will Not Interfere With The Judiciary, National Assembly – Atiku

I Will Not Interfere With The Judiciary, National Assembly – Atiku

Channels Television  Updated February 11, 2019
The Presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, has vowed to uphold the rule of law if elected into power.
He made the vow at his campaign rally in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital on Monday.
Addressing a large crowd at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt, the PDP presidential candidate also promised to unify the country and urged Nigerians to vote out the APC and any leader that seeks to set Nigerians against each other.
Taking a swipe at the Buhari administration’s run-ins with the judiciary and the National Assembly, Abubakar promised to uphold the rule of law.
“I will protect the Constitution,” he said. “I will protect the separation of powers. I will not interfere with the National Assembly because I believe in checks and balances. As you see me so, I will not interfere with the Judiciary because it is part and parcel of our checks and balances. I will uphold the rule of law. I will not allow the rule of law to be trampled by anybody.”
Atiku, who accused President Muhammadu Buhari of pitting Nigerians against each other, said Nigerians are tired of violence.
“We are not going to allow anybody to knock our heads (together) and make us fight,” he said.
Urging the people of the state to vote for him, Abubakar also promised to restructure Nigeria and ensure the progress and development of the country if elected.
Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike told thousands gathered at the rally that the choice before them and Nigerians was one between light and darkness and advised the people to vote for the Peoples Democratic Party.

Why Should You Never Use Your Phone Before Going To Sleep

Why Should You Never Use Your Phone Before Going To Sleep

If you are anything like me, your phone is the first and last thing you see every day. I check my phone every time I go to sleep, sometimes play a few games, or browse the social media websites, unblinking and zombie-like.
i-dont-want-to-sleep-i-wanna-look-at-cool-stuff-on-the-internet-yea-thats-cool
The one thing that you do know even before reading this article is that this behavior is really unhealthy for you. You know this because you can feel the ramifications of this inescapable habit. Ever notice how you don’t seem to be able to sleep well right after you’ve spent hours in front of a screen? Now, science can tell you why this happens, backed up by incontrovertible facts.

Cognitive stimulation

One simple effect that watching a bright screen right before bed has is the fact that you don’t get tired enough to sleep.  Before you go to bed, your body has to wind down properly. However, with the introduction of brightly lit entertainment, this often feels impossible!
The video games that you play, the incessant stalking you do on Facebook, the last-minute reading of notes on your iPad – all of these combine to increase stress in your body. Our body reacts to these modern acts of humanity in the Paleolithic way, i.e. using the fight-or-flight response.

Cortisol, a stress hormone, is released in your adrenal gland to combat these invisible midnight threats. Cortisol is a hormone that is responsible for waking you up. So now, your body, instead of producing the hormone melatonin, which basically puts you to sleep, it ends up releasing cortisol. Congratulations… you’ve officially confused your body clock.

Melatonin

The basic issue here is not necessarily the cognitive stimulation that you receive through these forms of technology. What really affects you is the bright blue-tinged light that these screens emit.
‘To produce white light, these electronic devices must emit light at short wavelengths, which makes them potential sources that suppress or delay the onset of melatonin release in the evening, thus reducing sleep duration and disrupting sleep. This is particularly worrisome in young adult and adolescent populations, who already tend to be night owls, according to researcher Brittany Woods.

Basically, your body has now, after millions of years of evolution, adapted to understand that the warm red light of sunset means that the body needs to sleep, while the bright blue light of the morning is a sign to wake the body up. It’s as simple as that, but it’s really difficult to fix in today’s information age!
‘Our study shows that a two-hour exposure to light from self-luminous electronic displays can suppress melatonin by about 22 percent,’ said Mariana Figueiro, associate professor at Rensselaer and director of the LRC’s Light and Health Program.

How does it matter?

So yes, watching screens before going to bed disrupts your sleep, but you already knew that, didn’t you? You have already felt the effects of tossing and turning right after you switch off that smartphone, but in this day and age, it seems unavoidable. Most of our work seems to be related in one way or another to a computer screen, and we just can’t get enough of it. So our sleep is ruined… so what? Why does it matter?
does it matter
Well, it really does matter, actually. The disruption in the circadian rhythm of the body (sleep cycle), increases risk for diabetes and obesity, as well as the risk for more serious diseases, such as breast cancer, if it occurs for many consecutive years, such as in nightshift workers. The neurotoxins that are built up during the day can’t get cleaned unless you have a good night’s sleep. Those neurotoxins then hang around in your brain, making you groggy, impairing your memory and attention span. Not to mention, your metabolism will be ruined.

How to fix this problem

A simple solution would be to add filters to your screens. Not physical filters, of course. What I’m referring to are the blue-light filtering apps. These apps change the appearance of your screen in accordance to the time of the day that you’re using the device. Once it is dark outside, the screen appears redder and warmer than the usual blue backlit experience. As a night owl myself, I use these apps very often! It certainly takes a lot of getting used to, but over time, you won’t even notice the difference.
trust me
Of course, the best solution is to turn off the damn phones and computers and read a book instead. Surprisingly, e-book reading devices like Kindle have completely eliminated shorter blue wavelengths to give you a better bedtime read. In other words, read a book, fellas, whether a physical one or a digital one. Your favorite celebrity’s Twitter feed will still be waiting for you tomorrow!
