Two suspected motorcycle robbers have been mobbed along Mandela junction,
Tudun Wada in the Chanchaga Local Government Area of Niger State.
It was learnt that the suspects, Adamu Ahmed, 36, of Kuchigoro, Abuja and Kabiru
Mohammed, 35, of Jabi Garage, Abuja, were beaten with iron rods and stones, after
they were caught attempting to steal a motorcycle.
Northern City News gathered that the operatives of the Special Anti-robbery Squad
rescued the suspects from the mob.
Ahmed and Mohammed were said to have been invited from Abuja for the theft by
their gang leader, identified as Bello Mohammed, who escaped.
Ahmed told our correspondent that he was a fish seller before he joined the gang,
adding that he had snatched several motorcycles in the past two years.
“I was selling fish before I joined the gang of motorcycle robbers in Abuja because
the proceeds from my fish business could not sustain my family needs. I was
introduced to this business by one Bello Mohammed who brought us to Minna to
steal motorcycles,” he narrated.
The Niger State Police Public Relations Officer, Muhammad Abubakar, confirmed
the arrest of the suspects, saying they were in police custody.
He said that a motorcycle was recovered from them, adding that they would be
charged to court after investigation.
